Terms of Use
Last updated: June 1, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and PocketMile for using the app. The most important parts are the subscription terms in section 3 and the disclaimers in sections 6 and 7 — please read those.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using PocketMile, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. PocketMile is operated by Zach Toutounjian, an independent developer based in Ontario, Canada.
2. Your license to use PocketMile
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PocketMile on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law.
3. Subscription & billing
PocketMile is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID, and your subscription is managed entirely through your Apple account — we never receive or store your payment information.
| What you get | Full access to PocketMile. There is a single subscription — there is no separate tier and nothing additional held behind a second purchase. |
|---|---|
| Price | US $2.99 per month (or the equivalent in your local currency as shown in the App Store at purchase). |
| Billing period | Monthly. The subscription auto-renews each month unless you cancel. |
| Renewal charge | Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. |
| Cancelling | Turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device, or via the Manage Subscription option inside the app. Cancelling stops future charges; the current paid period runs to its end. |
| Refunds | Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store Terms of Service. We can't issue App Store refunds directly — request them through Apple. |
4. Free trial
New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid monthly subscription and your Apple ID is charged the then-current price. You can cancel any time during the trial (at least 24 hours before it ends) to avoid being charged. If you cancel mid-trial, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited.
5. Acceptable use
Use PocketMile lawfully and only for tracking your own driving. Don't use it to break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or interfere with the app's operation or security.
6. Not tax or accounting advice
PocketMile is a record-keeping tool, not a tax preparer, accountant, or financial advisor. Its exports (including the IRS and CRA formats) are provided to help you keep a log — they are not tax advice and are not a guarantee that your records meet any tax authority's requirements. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of what you claim, and for confirming your deductions with a qualified tax professional. Tax rules change and vary by jurisdiction.
7. Disclaimer & accuracy
PocketMile relies on your device's GPS, motion sensors, and Bluetooth, which can be affected by signal loss (tunnels, garages), hardware limits, battery settings, and iOS background restrictions. Trips and distances are estimates and may be missed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Please review your trips before relying on them for taxes or reimbursement.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PocketMile and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any lost deductions, penalties, lost profits, or lost data, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Changes to the app or terms
We may update, change, or discontinue features of the app, and we may update these terms. When we make material changes to these terms, we'll post the new version here with an updated date and, where appropriate, surface it in the app. Continuing to use PocketMile after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here limits any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
